Convention Day began with hospitality served by the women of Nativity of Our Lord Parish.  We were welcomed to Rhinelander by Mayor Dick Johns.

Keynote speaker was Jane Carter the NCCW Leadership Commission Chair.  Her presentation “Share the Good News”  was informative and lively and based on the  “New Evangelization:  We are Called to Witness” program.

She shared with  us that as Council of Catholic Women Jane4we are sisters united in faith and mission.  We are called to actively participate as members.  Each act of service is vital to the success of our organization.  Together we can do more than any one of us can do individually.

There are nine words that describe the members of the Council of Catholic Women; we say them so often.  Six of these words are Support, Empower, Educate, Spirituality, Leadership, Service.  Every time we recite the Mission Statement we are saying them.

We speak the other three when we pray the prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel: Wise, Courage, Loving.  We are wise, courageous and loving leaders of the church.

Mass was celebrated by Very Rev James Powers, Rev. Gerard Willger, Rev, Michael McLain, and Rev. Pat Hardy.  Rev Powers presented the Pax Christi Award to Carol Landry of St. Patrick’s Hudson and Scholarship Awards were presented.

In the afternoon, Jane led us in an interactive workshop:  We Are Called to Witness.
