The Duluth and Superior Diocesan Councils of Catholic Women join together for an annual convention on May 22, 2018 at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN featuring speakers Dale Ahlquist and Maria Morera Johnson.
Dale Ahlquist is an author, public speaker, Evangelical convert to Catholicism, and Catholic apologist. He has written, edited, or contributed to more than fifteen books on G. K. Chesterton perspectives on faith, education, love and marriage. Dale is the president and co-founder of the American Chesterton Society and the publisher of its magazine, Gilbert. He is the creator and host of the television series, The Apostle of Common Sense, on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). Dale is also the co-founder of Chesterton Academy, a Minneapolis-based high school rated one of the top 50 Catholic schools in the United States.
Maria Johnson is a first-generation Cuban-American, educator of at-risk college students and caregiver for a husband with Lou Gehrig’s disease. She loves the catholic faith and sharing it with others. She is a CatholicMom.com blogger and a co-host of SQPN’s Catholic Weekend. Maria is the award winning author of My Badass Book of Saints: Courageous Women Who Showed Me How to Live. Through twenty-four holy women, Maria was inspired by their bravery, integrity, selflessness, perseverance and hope to have courage to reach for a closer connection with God.
